On 05.10.2020, the new REISS Büromöbel GmbH production site, REISS Plant 2, was officially inaugurated with a small group in attendance under strict hygiene regulations and with appropriate social distancing. The Minister President of the State of Brandenburg, Dr. Dietmar Woidke, symbolically put the new production line into operation with a buzzer and took a tour of the plant to see the new equipment for himself. The inauguration was supposed to have taken place in April this year, almost two years to the day after the ground-breaking ceremony, but had to be cancelled due to the Corona pandemic. Over a factory area of 12,500 m², high-quality office furniture is manufactured to customer specifications on modern facilities in accordance with Industry 4.0 standards.

Efficient order-related production
The heart of REISS Plant 2 is a batch size 1 line, which permits highly efficient and, at the same time, highly flexible production by means of intelligent machines and optimised processes. In addition to the new factory building, this also required a new system landscape that would enable all processes, from order to delivery, to be digitalised.
With this new location, REISS Büromöbel GmbH now has one of the most modern and efficient production lines in the sector in operation.

Modernisation not completed
As part of the modernisation offensive of REISS Büromöbel GmbH, with a total investment volume of approx. 30 million €, the construction of REISS Plant 2 is the first and without doubt the largest step for the company. In a second investment step, the company’s in-house metal production is now also being restructured and completely modernised at a cost of around 1.5 million euros. On the now vacant space in Plant 1 at the company’s headquarters in Bad Liebenwerda, the conditions and facilities for metal production at Industry 4.0 level are being created in order to be able to produce even more flexibly and variably in future. Plant 1 is a supplier of metal parts for furniture production in Plant 2.
