REISS office furniture certified according to the FEMB Level standards

Bad Liebenwerda, 10.01.2024.

At the end of 2023, REISS Büromöbel GmbH had its products certified by TÜV Rheinland in accordance with the sustainability standard for office and contract furniture for indoor use of the European Office Furniture Federation, known as FEMB, and successfully achieved the highest sustainability level, Level 3. The certificates have now been issued for REISS cabinets and pedestals as well as for the REISS table programmes with work and meeting tables, stand-sit tables and tables for lounge and middle zone areas. These certificates document that REISS Büromöbel GmbH satisfies the highest sustainability standards in the production of furniture, starting with the design, the selection of materials and suppliers, the production to the use by the customer.

„We are very proud to have achieved Level 3 certification. This shows that we have made the right decisions and endeavours in recent years to make our company and all its processes even more sustainable. And it confirms that we are on the right track in our next endeavours. Environmental protection and social commitment in the region have always been firmly anchored in the REISS company. For some years now, however, we have been working with a growing team of internal specialists to focus on our environmental performance and our involvement in initiatives to support regional youth, culture and sport.“

Says Hans-Ulrich Weishaupt, Managing Director of REISS Büromöbel GmbH.

His partner in the Management Board, Andreas Käs, adds:

„This certification also clearly shows our employees how their actions are making a difference. And, of course, it is an important sign for specialist retailers, architects, interior designers and office furniture buyers that we manufacture sustainable products and act sustainably as an organisation in terms of economic, ecological and social aspects.“

The FEMB has developed its multi-attribute sustainability standard using as a basis the American standard ANSI/BIFMA e3 together with the European criteria for Green Public Procurement and the specifications for the awarding of several voluntary ecolabels. It thus represents a holistic instrument for the objective assessment and communication of the ecological and social impact of furniture products on the environment.
In the level certification process, products, production facilities and the organisation itself are assessed with regard to the materials used, including chemicals, energy consumption, environmental impact and social responsibility.
